OVERVIEW:

Peter is an Associate of the Firm and part of our Dispute Resolution department with experience in commercial litigation and arbitration.

Over the years, he has been involved in high profile matters touching on various aspects of corporate and commercial law ranging from tax assessment disputes before the Tax Appeals Tribunal, competition disputes before the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, disputes before the Capital Markets Tribunal, labour matters before the Labour Commissioner, debt collection proceedings before the High Court of Zambia and other superior courts, as well as other contentious corporate law disputes before the Arbitral Tribunal and other quasi-judicial bodies.

Peter is also an active member of our Corporate Advisory team and occasionally assists our clients on various aspects of the law, including providing legal advice on banking and financial regulations, corporate law, insolvency and business rescue proceedings, competition law, insurance law and employment law.

He is a member of the Law Association of Zambia.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Flo-Tek Pipes & Irrigation (Pty) Limited and Radical Investments (Pty) Limited T/A Flo-Tek Pipes & Irrigation in relation to a dispute against Elevolution-Engenharia, SA., a company incorporated in Portugal. Elevolution – Engenharia, SA was engaged to conduct construction works packages that were part of the US$355 million Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation and Drainage (LWSSD) Project funded by the United States Government through the Millenium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) five year compact with the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
• Moore Stephens IFI Services Limited in relation to the redundancy process and transfer of its employees from BDO IFI Zambia Limited to BDO Zambia Limited following Moore Stephens merger with BDO LLP.
• Lactalis Zambia Limited, a subsidiary of the Lactalis Group, a French multinational dairy products corporation, owned by the Besnier family and based in Laval, Mayenne, France in relation to various employment and competition related claims in Zambia.
• Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A, a global shipping line founded by Gianluigi Aponte in Italy with headquarters in Switzerland in relation to recovery of its goods in Zambia.
• Gold Vale Trading and Logistics Limited and Gold Mountains (H.K) International Mining Limited, related companies and members of the Zijin Mining Group, multi-national mining company headquartered in Mainland China in relation to the recovery of the cargo in Zambia.
