PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Vedanta Resources Holdings Limited (Vedanta) on various aspects relating to the Scheme of Arrangement involving the compromise and arrangement between Konkola Copper Mines Plc and its creditors.
  • Kobold Metals on various aspects of Zambia law relating to the ongoing investment of US$150 million in Lubambe Copper Mine.
  • International Finance Corporation (IFC) in connection with the US$35 million financing to Zambeef Products Plc. The financing is intended to contribute to climate mitigation by supporting efforts to improve Zambeef’s energy and fuel efficiency and reduce more than 14,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year. The transaction has been reported by IFC.
  • Grit Real Estate Income Group (Grit) in connection with a S$306,000,000.00 facility provided to Grit by a syndicate of lenders which included the Standard Bank of South Africa Limited. A transaction which has been reported as one of the largest African sustainability linked deal by Bloomberg.
  • BioCarbon Partners Zambia Limited (BCP) in connection with various legal matters and regulatory advisory services related to BCP’s work in partnering with communities across Zambia for the conservation of community forests and the management of REDD+ projects. This area of law is not only highly regulated but also novel in Zambia as the applicable legal framework, including the recently enacted Forest (Carbon Stock Management) Regulations of 2021, which seeks to regulate carbon projects and carbon trading in Zambia, remains largely untested.
