OVERVIEW:

Chimwemwe is an Associate of the Firm and an active member of the dispute resolution team specialising in litigation cases.

Over the years, Chimwemwe has been involved in high profile matters relating to various aspects of commercial and corporate law including litigation proceedings before the High Court of Zambia and contentious corporate law disputes before the Arbitral Tribunal.

Chimwemwe is also part of our Corporate Advisory team and assists our clients by providing legal advice on banking and finance regulations, data protection laws and employment law matters such as, severance and terminal benefits; redundancy procedure and payments; and wrongful and unfair dismissal.

She is a Member of the Law Association of Zambia,

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Mabiza Resources Limited in relation to assisting with the restructuring of the debt for the company with its creditors and tax authorities;
  • CFAO Zambia Limited in relation to providing legal advise on the restructuring of CFAO and its merger with Toyota Zambia Limited, Vehicle Finance and Top Gear;
  • Lactalis Zambia Limited in relation to attending to various dispute resolution claims by ex-employees on employment claims and by customers on tortious claims;
  • ENS (Mastercard)- in relation to providing legal advise on the banking and finance and electronic transactions regulations for purposes of the establishment of an online financial platform; and
  • China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Company Limited in relation to its proposed acquisition of controlling stake in China Nonferrous Mining Corporation Limited, registered in the People’s Republic of China and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, from China Nonferrous Mining Development Limited.
